Time moves at an ever-quickening pace. Ideas and information swirl around us so quickly that we barely have time to capture them before they become a fleeting memory. We seem to live ever more compartmentalized lives. This is not the way man was meant to be. We are a race of explorers and adventurers, if this were not so we would have long ago perished. The connections between each other and nature are the elements that inspire Baha Kutan, the designer of Baha K and Seveneves. The crux of the collection is that it's composed of completely natural elements, thus reinforcing the desire to reconnect with the planet that gave us life. Baha looks to the past to find our future.

The two collections, Baha K and Seveneves are two parts of one whole. In previous collections, both t-shirts and more design-focused pieces were all in one. By separating the more grown-up and detail-oriented Baha K from Seveneves, the relaxed and graphics-oriented

t-shirts, and denim, Baha has focused on each individual, making a more precise and cohesive whole. Baha K are the garments of the world traveler, using ancient techniques to create unique textures and fits. The clothes take us back to a time when a boy became a man on the roads and seas of an untamed earth.

The ingredients used to create the collection are simply linen, silk, hemp, root dyes, steel, and organic cotton. The beauty is in the details, where complicated hand-stitched garments often hold useful traveler information or inspirational graphics and words in the interior for the wearer's enjoyment.

Seveneves is the organic and educational branch of the two collections. The designs of the t-shirts are understated, but upon further inspection, are full of meaning. All the garments are made of organic cotton and the graphics are printed using water-based dyes. The color of the garments is imparted using an ancient technique of root dying that was originally used to make Oushak carpets. The jeans are simply wearable, making for a worn-in, unpretentious feel. Both collections taken together form a vision that not only harkens back to a nobler and more spiritual time but also looks to the future with a world-weary optimism.
